Hun Manith Officially Appointed Deputy Commander of the Army

PHNOM PENH: Lt. Gen. Hun Manith was officially appointed Deputy Commander of the Army on Thursday, 6 April 2023, under the chairmanship of the Army’s Commander-in-Chief, General Hun Manet.

Speaking at the appointment ceremony of senior officers and the meeting to review the results of the Army’s first and second quarter of 2023, General Hun Manet said that the decision to appoint Hun Manith as Deputy Commander was appropriately made based on his abilities, merits and proven dedication and duty to the nation and the people. He added that his brother’s new appointment is also in response to needs of the Army of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.

Lt. Gen. Hun Manith was appointed Deputy Commander of the Army along with Lt. Gen. Uy Heang, while Lt. Col. Nget Sovann Arundeth was appointed as the Director of the Third Office of the Army Command.

Hun Manith is Prime Minister Hun Sen’s second son and the younger brother of Hun Manet. Born in 1981, Hun Manith joined the Army in 2009 then became Director of the Intelligence Research Department of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces in 2015.

In addition to this role, Lt. Gen. Hun Manith is also the Deputy Director of the Prime Minister's Office, Deputy Secretary General of the National Authority for Land Dispute Resolution, and Deputy Chairman of the Commission for Resolving Strikes and Demonstrations.
